What a day that was!

Arriving to Mondello on Sunday morning, albeit a tad bit late due to sleeping in, I never could of guessed how the day was going to pan out.I brought the camera with the intention of just capturing good friend Thomas and his team throughout the day.

Embarrassingly this was my first Mondello Masters event so didn't really know what to expect but had seen great things on social media of the series.

It was clear on arrival Thomas is a popular man in the paddock. I don't know how he was able to ride the bike after shaking that many hands with fans and family coming up to him. There were people I hadn't seen in years coming out to support Thomas and the team for the final day of the series.

After missing the first Supertwin race due to my beauty sleep, the first race I got was the first Superbike after lunch. Thomas has a little spot where him and his team prepare for heading out for each race. This was a nice spot to get some shots of him and the team get ready before heading out the grid. He secured third spot on the podium leaving him 1 point behind leader Derek Sheils heading into the last race. The second Supertwin race followed, where Thomas took 4th place which was enough for him to secure the championship. This was a taster of what was to come. Thomas did his interviews which I have to say have come along way since we done video edits back in the day.

As the day came to an end, anticipation began to build for the last race of the day. I captured the start line for a few shots and moved up beside the big screen where friends and family gathered to get a full view of the action.

I don't think anyone was prepared for what was to unfold. A last corner dive on the last lap, Thomas went up the inside of leader Sheils. The cheers erupted, I wanted to join in jumping up and down but I couldn't miss capturing Thomas's mother, sister and friends celebrate the win. It was like something from a movie.

My first Mondello Masters to go to, I think I chose the right one to be a fly on the wall capturing team 241. This little team has some serious hard workers and seem to be the fans favourite. A big congratulations to all involved.

Already looking forward to next year and sure I get to a few more races next year.

Have a scroll through and see how the day unfolded through the lens.
